Dear Supporters,
We are almost in the mid- year of 2016. How time flies!
We have enjoyed wonderful support in so many ways since the last newsletter.
Ann Campbell of Bergvliet opened her magnificent garden to the public and guests enjoyed a memorable few hours soaking up the beauty of the garden while sipping on a cup of tea.

Jane McClarty and Alison Berrange arranged a bridge drive with wonderful prizes.
Beautiful paintings were generously donated by Tony Grogan and raffled, delighting the winners with a beautiful piece of art.
Dorothea Tweedie donated magnificent botanical paintings – to view please phone Alison at 082 4963 487
The residents continue to enjoy generous food donations from the Eileen Richardt’s Woolworths Home Store at the Engen Garage, Meadowridge. We would like to thank all the volunteers who regularly collect the Wednesday and Saturday food donations.

Our annual book-sales was a wonderful success hosted by Lizette Nash in her and Mike’s beautiful home.
This event is looked forward by a wide range of supporters who go home laden with recent books in excellent condition after enjoying a tea and cake in the morning and wine and sushi after 6pm.
Lizette works hard through-out the year collecting books, storing books, and later … moving furniture, organizing the teas and drinks …………….and this year we broke our record and made an amazing R25000.00….
Our first book sale in 2007 made R3700. Annually our sale is from 9am – 9 pm. Next year being the 10th Book-sale we are contemplating a two day sale!!

Our Open Day towards the end of the year is always a great success with Peak Drive in Pinelands parked to capacity. The residents produce a variety of excellent home made goods from a delicious lemon syrup to beautiful Christmas angels and hand sewed items as well as jams and baked delicacies. Many bargains can be found on our rummage, book and garden stands. It is always gratifying to see our visitors either enjoying the delicious teas and cakes donated by supporters or wandering through the property seeing what Hope House has to offers. Although many of the residents have their own personal stalls, Sue, our skills therapist has a stall showing many of the stunning articles the residents had made during the year.

Through-out the year the residents have some wonderful outings. The last being a most successful visit to Kirstenbosch and the “boomslang.
2015 was a happy and successful year for Hope House. Our residents are stable and enjoy the support of the staff and the companionship of the other residents. We sadly said goodbye to Cecelia van der Vent who has helped us as house mother and assistant house mother for so many years. We welcomed Sherezaan Hendricks as our new house mother – she has brought a beautiful warmth and cheerfulness to the house as well as a gift of cooking and our residents enjoy delicious and nutritious meals.
On behalf of the Trustees, staff and residents of Hope House I thank you for your continued support and interest in Hope House.
With best wishes
Jess Mackintosh
