Busy Mornings at Hope House.
Monday and Thursday are aerobic days but on Wednesday and Fridays, Sue Miller provides other activities. See her lovely and informative description below
On Wednesday and Friday mornings we busy ourselves with activities. On arriving at Hope House to a warm welcome, we begin with a walk around the neighbourhood, we have time to catch up with individual news and happenings whilst we absorb the surrounding beauty. As we return to Hope House we are sure to hear Sherezaan singing in the kitchen.
We are ready to gather in the art/gym room for a creative morning. Fortunately, our group can express themselves creatively in a noncritical, understanding and gentle environment which they have developed living together over the years – an exceptional achievement.
Our activities include poetry reading and writing, storytelling, role play and play reading, this process is insightful and often amusing. Recently we used “The girl with the pearl earring” as inspiration for our joint artwork. We have started working on crafts in readiness for our end of year Open Day.
Once a week we discuss an interesting topic supported with a short video. With the recent discovery of the ship “Endurance” off the coast of Antarctica we followed Shackelton’s epic journey to South Georgia Island after being shipwrecked.
We are fortunate to have a group of musical residents who enjoy sharing their love of music. We look forward to both the playing of various musical instruments as well as singing sessions on a Friday morning.
Wordle has been added to our list of games which includes Bingo, word searches, anagrams etc. If we still have some energy left a game of table tennis is always a popular choice.
